The Encyclopédie Collaborative Translation Project

The Encyclopedia of Diderot and d'Alembert Collaborative Translation Project is a collaborative effort of hundreds of volunteer translators whose aim is to make the Encyclopedia accessible to English-language readers, especially students and teachers. Of the more than 70,000 articles in the original, several hundred have been translated since the project launched in 2002. New contributors are always welcome. To volunteer to translate an article, or to browse or search the articles that have already been translated, visit the site.

We would like to thank Benjamin Heller, Kevin Hawkins, and Dena Goodman of the Collaborative Translation Project for their contribution of normalized (orthographically) and English translations of the Encyclopédie classes of knowledge.
